This intricate blossom reminds me of a dancer with a beautifully woven skirt. It’s a passion flower (Passiflora incarnata), a native Kentucky vine now blooming in the backyard. I find it to be quite exotic and another example of the amazing designs found in nature.

About this blog
I have strong interests in nature, native plants, birds, butterflies, and insects. These interests led my husband and me to landscape our backyard with Kentucky native plants. That was seven years ago and the results have been rewarding. I've learned a lot and am still learning.
The focus for my blog is the happenings in our backyard or nearby areas. I look forward to sharing my images and observations and networking with others of similar interests.

I love this gorgeous photo and also your description of the bloom. I’m so glad I got to see the vine in person yesterday. Thanks for a most enjoyable afternoon! Your garden is delightful, and I learned SO much.
